KANGAR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (pic) has lodged a police report on Thursday over a comment posted on the Facebook page of a news portal concerning the death of his son, which happened 16 years ago.
Shahidan, who is also Perlis Umno chief, said anyone could get into a political fight with him but he would not tolerate hurtful comments about his family.
"I believe this is to tarnish my reputation as a politician. I will not tolerate such an insensitive act," he said.
Shahidan lodged the report at the Kangar police station at about 5.30pm accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Shamsiah Mohd Yassin and several of his supporters.
He said he will leave it to the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to carry out their investigations before deciding to take any legal action.
Shahidan's youngest son, Ameer Mohammad Fawwaz died when he fell from the 31st floor of a condominium in Jalan Putra in December 2001. He was three years old.
