Sg Petani teen accused of raping three young sisters remanded

SUNGAI PETANI: Police have obtained a week-long remand order against an 18-year-old from Sungai Layar here for allegedly sexually assaulting his three young sisters.
Magistrate Arif Mohamad Ariff granted the remand application by the Kuala Muda police when the teen was escorted to the Sungai Petani Courts Complex this morning.
Police detained the teenager yesterday morning when he turned up at the district police headquarters to have his statement recorded.
A probe was launched after the teen's mother lodged a police report on Thursday when her 8-year-old daughter revealed that she had been raped by her brother.
The girl claimed that the teen had raped her in a vacant house adjacent to their home in Kampung Pulau Tiga, Sungai Layar, at about 8pm on Wednesday.
Kuala Muda deputy police chief Superintendent Saifi Abd Hamid was quoted as saying that investigators are also probing claims by the suspects' two other sisters, aged 9 and 14, who allege that they were also raped by him.
Police have classified the case under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum 30 years' imprisonment and whipping, if convicted.
