Remand extended against teen accused of raping 3 young sisters

SUNGAI PETANI: Police obtained a six-day remand extension against a teenager from Sungai Layar, detained last week for allegedly raping his three young sisters.
Kuala Muda deputy police chief Superintendent Saifi Abd Hamid said the Sungai Petani magistrate's court allowed the remand extension application, from today until Aug 2, for further investigation.
The original week-long remand order granted on the 18-year-old boy last Saturday expires today.
The teen, the third of 12 siblings, was detained last Friday when he turned up at the district police headquarters following a police report lodged by his mother that he had allegedly raped his 8-year-old sister.
The teen is also being investigated for alleged sexual assault on two other sisters, aged 9 and 14.
On Monday, Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Al Athrash Wahid told reporters that a preliminary medical examination by doctors confirmed that two of the girls, aged 8 and 14, had been raped.
He said police are still waiting for the full medical examination report from doctors at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here.
