Prime Minister extends invitation; welcomes M'sians on the MRT come Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has extended a public invitation to all Malaysians to use the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line.
Najib set up an event on his Facebook account, calling for the public to experience the new route, which will run from Muzium Negara to Kajang.
The service will roll out on Monday from 4pm. The prime minister himself will be present earlier on the same day to launch the line.
However, the connection to Phase One of the SBK line, between the Sungai Buloh and Semantan stations as well as to integrated stations for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Kelana Jaya, Sri Petaling and Ampang routes, will only be available from 6am on Tuesday, July 18.
Phase Two, which spans 51km, features 31 stations, with seven of them located underground.
The line also offers connectivity with the LRT, monorail, KTM and Express Rail Link at the Muzium Negara station.
Since it began its operations in December last year, Phase One of the SBK line, which is 21km long with 12 stations from Sg Buloh to Semantan, has seen an average of 15,000 passengers per day.
With the opening of the second phase, the daily number of passengers is expected to increase to 150.000.
