Opposition causes commotion when speaker rejects question on 1MDB, DoJ

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat sitting today erupted into war of words when opposition MPs questioned the credibility of the speaker after he rejected questions relating to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and the investigation into 1MDB by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ).
The sitting turned chaotic and the atmosphere was tense after opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh) questioned the rejection to answer questions on the government’s willingness to prepare a white paper on issues regarding foreign interference.
Among those who agreed with Wan Azizah were Gobind Singh Deo (DAP-Puchong), Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa (PAN-Parit Buntar), Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelang Patah), and Datuk Fauzi Abdul Rahman (PKR-Indera Mahkota).
Unable to bear the ruckus, Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (BN-Baling) stood up and rebuked the opposition MPs for their thug-like actions when voicing their dissatisfaction.
“Respected MPs, there’s no need to shout, this is not a place for hooliganism, please respect the Parliament, say nice things and do not make noise,” he said.
