Dr Mahathir unlikely to contest in GE14

KULIM: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) has said he is unlikely to contest in the upcoming general election unless under desperate circumstances.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman said while he has yet to decide, he will only contest if the situation is desperate.
"But at this time, we have many candidates who can contest," he said in reply to enquiries on where he will be contesting.
He was speaking to the press at the Kedah state-level Pribumi Hari Raya open house in Kampung Ayer Merah on Thursday.
Also present were Pribumi president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Pribumi deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.
On the statement by PAS recently that they will be contesting in all 15 parliamentary and 36 state seats in Kedah in the next general election, Dr Mahathir said the ultimate winner from the move will be Umno.
"A three corner fight would only benefit Umno as they would try to break apart the opposition. And this also showed that PAS is supporting Umno," he added.
