Ahmad Zahid visits Kelantan; 20,000 expected to attend Umno get-together

KOTA BARU: More than 20,000 people are expected to attend a get-together with Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the Kelantan Foundation for the Poor in Padang Kala, Melor here.
The session was drawn up by the Umno Ketereh division to enable the area’s constituents to catch up with the deputy prime minister.
Umno Ketereh division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa who made the announcement in a statement to the press said Zahid would be greeted by party leaders in the state as soon as he touch down at the Sultan Ismail Petra airport tomorrow morning.
The welcoming party would be led by Umno liaison chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamad.
“He is to be greeted and joined by a motorcycle convoy of 1,000 youths,” said Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP and Umno information chief.
Zahid is expected to give out awards in recognition of the contribution of 100 servicemen.
The awards are divided into 25 categories including those recognising prominent figures in the field of education, religion and entrepreneurship.
After the ceremony Zahid is expected to proceed to Annuar’s residence for a break before joining the people for Friday prayers at the Bukit Marak Mosque.
He is then slated to attend the Umno state level Hari Raya celebration in Dataran Rehal, here at 2.30pm.
