UMNO and Yayasan Tabung Haji distribute RM15M zakat ro asnaf amd needy group

Yayasan Tabung Haji and Umno will be distributing RM15 million worth of zakat and financial assistance to the asnaf and needy groups nationwide as part of the Ziarah Kasih programme to mark the Ramadan month.
Chairman of Tabung Haji Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the total amount is shared equally with Umno, which targets underprivileged groups such as single mothers, low income earners, senior citizens as well as the disabled.
He said the Ziarah Kasih programme, which will be carried out in over 60 parliamentary constituencies, was launched several days ago in Kuala Langat, followed by Kuala Selangor, Gombak and Shah Alam today.
To date, the number of recipients stands at 6,500 and RM1.2 million had been disbursed.
To ensure that the contributions are channelled to the recipients fast, Azeez said the aid will be given out in two parliamentary constituencies daily.
For the Shah Alam parliamentary constituency, Azeez said RM300,000 had been allocated by the foundation and Umno which benefitted 1,500 recipients.
Azeez, along with Shah Alam Umno chief Datuk Azhari Shaari, gave away RM200 to recipients at the Raja Tun Uda mosque in Section 16, today.
"This time around we want to reach out to more recipients and that is why the foundation teamed up with Umno through its membership and registration bureau to identity more people who are in need. We are also working with the Welfare Department which has a list of names of those that need financial assistance and we will also look through the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) list.
"This contribution is given to recipients regardless of their political beliefs. We want to help as many people as we can and help those even in the states we do not hold power. This should not be politicised and we welcome if the Opposition wants to join us for this good deed," said Azeez.
